New SIG leader

I'm happy to say that I've finally found someone to take leadership of the IT Careers SIG. Julie Dvornicky of New Horizons will be the new SIG leader. We will be discussing particulars of the transfer in several days. Details will be published on the current IT Careers SIG web site and on this blog as they become available.

Because of other priorities, I will no longer be able to manage the IT Careers SIG. I am looking for someone or some group to assume leadership of the SIG. If you are interested, please contact me. As of this time, I will not be scheduling any future SIG meetings.

Academic Challenge

Every year, an academic competion consisting of teams of parents vs. students vs. teachers is held to raise money for Brooklyn students. I was encouraged to join one of the five teams, since I was the captain of Brooklyn High School's winning Academic Challenge team in 1982. We had our competition last night. Our team won, more due to the efforts of other talented people on our team than to me, but I was glad to have added some points to our total.

Data Integration project with United Way FCFH

I have agreed to assist United Way Services 211 Cleveland/First Call For Help in their work with similar agencies in the U.S. and Canada on the AIRS XML Data Standards Workgroup. Here is the group's mission statement.

First meeting of the IT Careers SIG

The IT Careers SIG is the second SIG I've started, the first being the GCPCUG Data Warehousing SIG that met from 1/2000 - 4/2002. The Northeastern Ohio Data Warehousing SIG (NEODWSIG, no relation to the SIG I started) now serves the community in that capacity.

Received the go-ahead to organize the IT Careers SIG

I received the go-ahead to organize an IT Careers SIG within the Greater Cleveland PC Users Group.

The TCB Association web site was presented to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The management of the TCB Association presented the web site I developed to senior management at the The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. I have served as Web Manager and Technical Consultant to the TCB Association, founded to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Elvis Presley's breakout performance in Brooklyn, Ohio, in conjunction with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The web site was developed from a template we purchased, just like my own (this) web site. Extensive modifications involving HTML, CSS and JavaScript were applied to customize the site.

Served as a Statistical Judge at NEOSEF

I had the honor of serving as a special awards judge at the North Eastern Ohio Science & Engineering Fair (NEOSEF) with my colleagues from the Cleveland Chapter of the American Statistical Association. We were called special awards judges, while the regular judges were called "fair judges." I guess that made us the unfair judges.
